Resources for Parents

I will update this site to link to many different resources for parents.

This link will take you to the Alive site where you can view their different services such as support groups, individual sessions, and a grief summer camp for kids. Providers can be found by clicking on the “Our Grief Counselors and Locations” button.

Grief Support Activities from Alive

Sesame Street offers videos about grief and loss along with a caregiver guide, storybook, and feelings journal. These resources can be found here.

This site has modules that provide more in-depth information about talking with children about death and dying, understanding a child's grief, and supporting them.

The Dougy Center offers grief resources for both children and adults. The link I have attached is for children, but looking under the Grief Support and Resources tab provides more information and resources for adults as well.

Books for Helping Children with Grief

Below are some books that I think could be helpful to read with the kids. These links are from a Grief Support Center and are virtual readings of the book. Each reading also has a description of an activity the kids can work on in relation to the book such as coloring and drawing about their loved one.

I Miss You: A First Look at Death by Pat Thomas

Ida, Always by Caron Levis

Always Remember By Cece Meng

When the Anger Ogre Visits by Andree Salom

The Invisible String by Patrice Karst

Wherever you are: My love will find you by Nancy Tillman

The Way I Feel by Karah Spahn
